A Heritage in Luxury Cotton Shirting

Created in 1976 through the strategic merger of several legendary British cloth institutions, Huddersfield Fine Worsteds (HFW) unites a rich tapestry of textile heritage under a single banner. Its lineage includes Hardy Minnis, a pioneering Scottish merchant established in 1890, whose signature Alsport cloth was adopted by the Royal Family in 1929 and has proudly held a Royal Warrant since the 1930s.

Three Pillars of British Cloth

Another cornerstone is Hunt & Winterbotham, whose historic production at Cam Mills in Dursley dates back to 1532. Evolving from heavy industrial uniforms to ultra-fine luxury apparel, the house established prestigious addresses in Golden Square, Beverly Hills, and Fifth Avenue.

The third founding pillar, Martin Sons & Co, traces its origins to the 1840s and once stood as Huddersfield’s largest employer.

The World's Original Travel Cloth

In 1907, the firm changed menswear history by inventing and registering Fresco the world’s original travel cloth, engineered from high-twist worsted yarn in a uniquely breathable plain weave.
